CETI, a European technological platform for textile innovation, is demonstrating its prototyping services for better competitiveness and sustainability at INDEXTM20 (Booth 1454).

As a driver of the circular economy, CETI owns the most recent technologies for designing, testing, prototyping and industrialising the latest novelties in nonwovens.

The company says: “CETI has 150 configurations of web forming and web consolidation technologies covering the needs of over 80% of the nonwovens market.”

It adds: “This complete semi-industrial range offers a turnkey solution, with high flexibility in product development and process control allowing rapid prototyping.”

The core business of CETI's engineering teams is to demonstrate innovation by producing prototypes on its semi-industrial platforms through private and collaborative R&D project for the hygiene market. For example, the organisation is prototyping a lofty spunbond bi-component nonwoven, which gives it insulation, absorption, filtration, resilience and light weight properties. This new range of three-dimensional spunbond nonwovens can cover many needs in a wide variety of markets.

Elsewhere, CETI is developing high-loft carded nonwovens in collaboration with Andritz Perfojet. The two companies have established a flat oven with hot air, specific to carded light web and in-line with bi-component spunbond technology.

The company is also working on several environmentally sustainable projects. For instance, prototyping bio-based and biodegradable nonwovens using materials such as PLA, developing chemical-free solutions, and experimenting with mechanical and thermo-mechanical recycling processes of natural and synthetic fibres to achieve textile-to-textile circularity.

CETI can also assist its customers with appropriate material selection and it offers training courses on advanced nonwovens processes and innovations.
