
It has been widely reported that C&A is closing its Factory for Innovation Textile (FIT) jeans manufacturing company in Mönchengladbach, in Germany.
Local daily paper ‘Rheinische Post’ reported the Dutch fashion retailer, which has its headquarters in Düsseldorf, Germany, decided to close the project factory after what turned out to be a failed localisation effort. The jeans production facility specialised in producing more sustainable jeans and was opened in 2021.
FIT employed 90 people and intended to count on a productive capacity of roughly 420,000 items per year, with the intention of increasing to 800,000. However, reports said C&A did not meet the expected results.
